I didn’t actually knit this from a pattern. I charted it myself by looking at already completed hats. The ribbing should be much tighter. It likes to creep up my head. I’m starting to think that I just don’t have a hat wearing head. In order to get the ribbing to tighten up, I unfold the brim when I’m not wearing it, and that seems to work alright for now. This only took about a week to figure out and knit.

Eventually, I want to knit this again in the same yarn as my Holly mittens, so I can be matchy-matchy.

I finished these over the past week. The hat is Woolywormhead's Baby Tri-peak hat, and the booties are Oh Baby!Baby booties. I have some comments about the pattern on one of my Flickr photos. I think the hat will be going to Baby Jack, along with the rest of the stuff I need to finish and mail to BC. I just really wanted to knit the booties after doing the hat, so I think I'm going to give those to my roommate's relative who will be having a baby in a few months. I think the purple/brown colors are pretty gender neutral, but correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm so pleased that I finally got better pooling knitting this yarn as a hat. I tried three or four times as a sock and I was not pleased. The stripes work. I hope Jack's bean isn't too big!

This is about a week late, but I've been busy enjoying time off from school and everything.

What I hope to accomplish in 2009 is:
knit 12 socks (a sock a month, six pairs, hopefully)
get proper photos of my finished objects ( I still need to get modeled shots of Thorpe and my Tangled Yoke Cardigan)
Here's probably the number one thing, spend a bit more time studying than web surfing.

I did fairly well for my first semester of college, but seeing some of my friends not do so well in a couple classes really makes me not want to be anywhere near that.

I would also like to read more this year. The internet has largely taken up my reading time. Sure, the usual text book reading, but I want to finish some of the novels that have been piling up the last year or two. I keep buying books to read and I never have any time. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd like some input.

I got home from college last Wednesday night, and I've spun up this yarn since I've been back. It's about 150 yards, 4.5 ounces of Yarn Hollow superwash merino wool in Chai. Very beautiful and squishy.

I'll be knitting a Thorpe with it and using the other Yarn Hollow yarn a few posts back for the contrast color.

Here's what I've been up to.

Mini Mitten Ornaments for gifts. And a crocheted sock yarn blanket.

I think I've gone crazy. Crochet is helping with my dexterity now. I can knit Continental now, too.

In other words, I have one more week of classes and two more days of finals and then I get to go home again. My first semester of college went by really fast. Is it always like this? Probably not, right? I've had a great time. I haven't made too many new friends, but I get along really well with my roommate and her boyfriend, and I've got several people from high school here. I am happy to say that I've gotten a bit better at talking to new people though. I've always been a shy person and I'm still shy. I sometimes struggle with being around new people and old friends at the same time. For example, when my best friend's friends visit, and I don't know them very well or at all, then I'd just rather leave. I'm really working on becoming more adult about it, but as with most things, it's going to take some time. End of semester wrap up? It's been nice.

For the millionth time, do it! I already did about three weeks ago, so I'm kind of over that "November 4th!" thing. This is my first year that I've been old enough to vote, and the fact that it's a pretty important one means quite a bit to me. I hope that no matter who is elected, we can change the lives of the common man in the United States for the better. Enough seriousness, I leave you with this.

National Knit a Sweater Month, anyone? I'd love to, but at university, I don't have the supplies. If anyone would be willing to send me a sweater's worth of dk yarn for free, I promise you'll see a finished sweater for Thanksgiving.

Right now, I'm working on my February Lady Sweater, which I've been trying to finish since June (and then ripped and begun again in September due to my sudden onset of looser knitting, which is a whole 'nother story).

I've got a sleeve and a half left to go, and I'm hoping that the sleeves aren't too wide for my arms. I also think it might be just a bit too swingy for me. I'm going to finish it anyway. Just because it's pretty and it will look nice in my closet and on my Rav page. And just because I love Pam. I totally won her contest a few weeks ago, update on that later. I'm also impatiently awaiting her new mitten pattern.

P.S. I MISS MY SWIFT! Brought the ball-winder to school, but not the swift. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!

I started spinning this on July 10, 2008. This one took way too long.

Details: Fingering weight 3-ply, 620 yards of Interlacements Roving. I still have a couple ounces to spin, but I wanted to move on to another yarn. I think this yarn resembles Trekking XXL. It will probably stripe with gray, blue, purple, green, and yellow green. (The colors aren't quite true. They're a bit darker than they appear on my monitor.)

I already have a ton of socks on the needles, so I'm running out of needles.

However.

I want to knit some colorwork.

My lack of needles won't stop me, but my color indecision will. I think I've got the colors for mittens worked out, but I'm not sure which colors to use for an Inga hat. I'm thinking the oatmeal with the mustard, and use the pink as the other contrasting color. Or maybe I don't want to knit an Inga hat at all...

Ever since I stumbled upon Through the Loops several months ago, I've been in love with Kirsten's knitting and designs. And this month, for Socktober!, she put together a mystery sock pattern. Last Wednesday, it was the cuff, and today it's the leg. There are two versions of the pattern, a basic and cabled version. I'm doing the basic because I cast on for the 60 stitch version, and that was before she decided to do a cabled version, which isn't designed for 60 stitches.

1x1 rib (I think besides garter stitch, this might be my favorite scarf pattern.) Lies flat, looks like stockinette, and it shows off the colors nicely. Even though I'm alternating balls every two rows, it still seems to be pooling in a yellow and blue criss-cross...It's mostly subtle, I hope.

And omg, this is the best EVER yarn. It's soft and shiny, without being too shiny and it's a nice and even single. LOVE(1) mos. def.

How did I let this happen? I think I was trying to force gauge on the rusty yarn. (It's way more brown in actuality.) I don't know what to do. Should I leave it, or rip it out and work the orange on a smaller needle? The last end is not woven in, so it wouldn't be that big of a deal, except that it took me several hours of watching a friend play Grand Theft Auto 4 to knit the last 30 rows...

I’m back from vacation. Again. I meant to get this post up before I left for England, but that didn’t happen. So, here we are. A list of my current projects, as promised.

I’ve been spinning this Interlacements braid. I’m working toward a three-ply. I divided the braid into three parts, and now I’m just spinning the singles as lace weight-ish. I hope that the three-ply will turn out to be a d.k. weight. I really love the colors. The only problem is, the gray dye comes off on my hands when I get to that color. It’s no big deal, just annoying.

This is the cap shawl from Victorian Lace Today. I really like Emily’s cap shawl(rav link). Mine won’t end up being blue ribbon winning like hers, nor knit out of hand spun, but it will be a nice long term project.

I’m kind of cheating with these socks. I’ve never seen the pattern, just the finished objects on Ravelry, so I’m guestimating. The yarn is Cherry Tree Hill sock yarn. I have three skeins of it, none of which have a colorway.

This scarf is my pride and joy. It’s based off of Through The Loops’ Bi-Color Scarf. I had some Knitting Notions Superwash sock yarn in Green Apple and I knew I didn’t really want to use it for socks, so I improvised to use it with some coppery-red-brown sock yarn to make this scarf.

When my mom and I stopped in at The Yarn Garden in Charlotte, she bought me all sorts of yarn because it was a mother-daughter trip to visit Michigan Tech and she pick out this yarn. When I started knitting, I knitted one red pomatomus and she wanted it. Go figure, I never knit the second one. So, hopefully, by the time I come home from college, I’ll have a pair of socks for her.

These sweetheart socks from an Interweave magazine, I think the Holiday 2007 issue. I took these with me on one of my vacations and broke one of the needles. It’s not too much of a big deal because I only need four of the five to knit them. I love Trekking Pro Natura yarn. The bamboo in it gives it a nice shine and color.

Knitted on US 6 needles with my hand spun, that I thought was going to be for socks, but it turned out a bit thicker. Then I saw Ene's Scarf started from the longest edge and decreased to nothing. I liked that the knitting got smaller as I went on. It made it go faster, I think. "I'll knit a few more rows. They're getting shorter, so it won't take me as long. Then I'll go to bed." That sort of thing. I might someday get a modeled shot of this, but it's summer and I don't really feel like it, sorry to say.

A couple months ago, my sweater progress stalled, but now that knitting for the craft show and holiday knitting is over with, I've been able to get back to knitting for me.
The cable chart rows go on for forever. Hundreds of stitiches. But now I'm back down to 165 and almost ready to do the shortrow shaping. I can't wait to finish this and get some use out of it this winter.

I finished a pair of socks! I never finish a pair. Sure, I finish one, but never more than a few inches of the other. And these weren't even worked two at a time.
The stats:
Yarn:Kool-aid dyed by me, with Knit picks sock weight bare yarn 100% wool
Needles: 2.25mm Addi Turbo 40 inch circular
Pattern: Basic sock, shortrow heel couple inches of ribbing at the cuff
Verdict: I'm glad these didn't pool very badly. They just striped! But they are awfully pilly, which isn't very nice.
The two following photos are my Christmas present from Santa. How awesome! I've been wanting these for two years. I spend all Christmas morning winding yarn. I think I ended up with about thirty balls, with quite a few skeins left over. I made yarn men with the balls. I'll get pictures. They're cute.

This is the first of a pair of mittens. Elliphantom's Herringbone Mittens. I finished the second one at 6 AM on Christmas Eve morning in order to wash, block, and dry them to give to the recipient that evening before dinner. It's a good thing I had iced coffee.

Crappy lighting at five. I can't ever find the time right after school to take photos of my knitting! My Lady E is half way finished and I've started the Juno Regina from the most recent Knitty Surprise. That is being knit out of some of my own handspun. Once I can get decent photos, I'll give more details.

I get to go to the Trans Siberian Orchestra this Saturday in Grand Rapids. Oh, boy! I can't wait, but I need to buy some dress pants by tomorrow. Then, the next Saturday, is my Spinner's Flock meeting, which I will finally be able to go to, and that evening is my high school's winter formal, Snowball. I've already got my dress, so that's one less thing I need to do.

I sit here and spin while watching Casper. It's such a nice day. I woke up to snow on the trees, which has since melted, and it is a wonderful day for lounging about. Today almost seems like a day when I might actually want to clean my room. I am in a wonderful mood. Yesterday was great. I got to spend nearly a whole day with Shannon and Emily. It's great to be able to talk knitty and spinny in person.

I've been spinning! That yarn right there is some nice BFL that I got from spinner's flock a few months ago, and it spun up to a light worsted two-ply. I got about 280 yards out of four ounces. I think I'll be selling it at a craft show on the 17th.

Speaking of Saturdays...I don't think I'll be able to go to the Spinner's Flock meeting this month, again. Which really sucks because I really want to go. I had to sign up for a community service project this Saturday for school, so unless the weather is bad enough not be able to rake leaves, I won't be able to go.

I finished the baby socks, but I didn't get a picture of the finished pair. Just imagine the single sock times two. I haven't knit on the sweater in over a week, I think. I haven't spun anything. I haven't done much really, with school and Cameron. I've also been really lazy about taking and uploading pictures to flickr.

Tonight is my town's Halloween Parade, and Cameron is in that. Maybe I'll get a couple pictures. All the band members will be in a costume, which is always fun to watch. And one of my best friends, Danny, always makes his own costumes; last year, he was Bender from Futurama. I don't have a costume yet. Maybe I'll just hand out candy with Cameron at his house, since fewer than ten people ever come down my street.

Tangled Yoke has taken a back seat so I can knit little-bitty pair of socks for my teacher's baby. It's a simple pattern. Cast on 44 stitches, join and work four rounds in stockinette, k2tog yo for a round, knit another four rounds in stockinette, knit the cast on edge together with the fifth round and then knit plain for about one and three-quarter inches and work a short row heel, knit for about an inch and a half and then work a short row toe and kitchener stitch the toe shut, and voila, baby sock. I've already got its mate partly done, and I'm pretty sure I can finish tomorrow, for when my teacher will be back at school. I hope he likes them.

School is really taking quite a bit out of me. I haven't knit too much, which is sad. It's really all I'd like to do, but I have a ton of homework. Yay, AP classes...

This Saturday is the Sheep and Wool Festival in Romeo. I can't wait to go with my mom and boyfriend. He's kind of excited to go, too; he might get a rabbit. At least he'd like to think so. His mom is pretty strict. I'll have a camera this year, so I'm sure I will have a few photographs up in flickr by next week.

I've also decided to do 365 photographs. Or whatever it's called. I really like looking at Ashley's , so I thought I'd try it. I'm not very good at the whole daily thing, but I'll try.

I think I might have been a half stitch off in my gauge. It might turn out a bit more snug than I want it to be. You see, I was watching my brother's rocket football game while I swatched and I didn't exactly have a tape measure with me, so I used that "your middle knuckle is an inch" thing and I got gauge, but now that I'm to the stockinette part, I think I have six and a half stitches per inch rather than only six. Cross your fingers for me because I don't want to have to rip this out and re work it all on size sixes.

If you didn't notice, I only made it two written posts before abandoning that idea. With school starting, I need all the time I can get, so writing, taking a picture, uploading, and then finally blogging takes *this* much longer than I have the patience or time for.

Oh, and go say, "Hi," to Huxley. He's a cutie!

I bought yarn for a Tangled Yoke Cardigan from the latest Interweave Knits (Fall '07). I've already swatched and cast on for it, and I love the garter rib like I never thought I could. Just a quick update, I should have pictures tomorrow when it's light out. Right now, my rose quartz coloured yarn looks like taffy purple in the artificial light.

It's taken me a while to actually get in the mood to write one of these, but I like to read them on other peoples' blogs, so here you are.

1. I am the oldest of three.
2. My sister is nearly two years younger than me.
3. And my brother is nearly five years younger.
4. I'm a senior in high school.
5. I don't know what I want to do with my life.
6. And that scares me.
7. Actually, that doesn't scare me.
8. Not being finacially stable scares me.
9. I have the most wonderful boyfriend.
10. If things don't get messed up when college starts, I'm sure we'll be married.
11. I have a lot of books.
12. I haven't read at least a quarter of them, and that makes me sad.
13. Ever since I started knittng, reading has taken a back seat.
14. Knitting makes me feel better.
15. I'm definately a process knitter.
16. I hardly finish anything I start.
17. So, when I do, I feel pretty good, even though all I care about is having the yarn and needles in my hands.
18. I have a lilac French Angora rabbit named Louis.
19. I mostly call him Lou.
20. I also have a green and yellow parakeet.
21. His name is Kirk.
22. After Kirk, a character in Gilmore Girls, who Bird Kirk acts just like.
23. I started really knitting in September 2005.
24. I learned how to knit when I was eleven.
25. But put it away because I was eleven.
26. I'm so glad I found it when I was fifteen.
27. Thanks to knitting blogs, I was introduced to spinning.
28. I bought a spindle after I had been knitting for about a year.
29. It was from ebay.
30. About five months after that, I took three hundred dollars out of my bank account to help pay for half of my Louet Victoria.
31. I love it.
32. It was a good investment.
33. This is what I'm afraid of.
34. Not having enough money to pay for my hobby.
35. I like going to see plays on stage.
36. My parents took me to see The Music Man, Fiddler on the Roof, Les Miserables, and a few other plays before I was ten years old.
37. For my tenth birthday, I asked to go to Toronto, Cananda, to watch The Phantom of the Opera.

29. I still remember a lot of that trip.
30. I've been to Toronto once since then.
31. It was with my school band and choir.
32. I play trumpet.
33. I'm not very good.
34. I don't practice at home, even though I have a second trumpet to practice with.
35. When we went on the band trip, about half of us saw Wicked.
36. It didn't appeal to me, so I didn't spend the extra seventy five dollars to see it.
37. I don't regret it.
38. Because last April, on my last band trip, I got to see Les Miserables on Broadway in New York City.
39. That was amazing.
40. I've been hiking in Alaska.
41. I went with a group from school.
42. There were about sixty people who went.
43. Every one got along very well.
44. We hiked Crow Pass, and I can't wait to go back.
45. I've also been to Yellowstone with the same group.
46. I've had such a fantastic life.
47. Which is why I feel so badly when I complain about life at home.
48. My parents have let a twenty one year old wash up live with us for this last year.
49. I don't like her, but I tolerate her.
50. My brother hates her.
51. Yet, my parents don't realize that it's another thing to tear our family apart.
52. I asked my parents to have her out before my birthday (didn't happen) so I could have my senior year.
53. This is going to be hard.
54. To me, it seems like my parents don't care what this situation is doing to my brother and me.
55. But I've got my best friend to help me get through it.
56. I have no idea what's going to happen to us once we go to college.
57. You see, she's amazing at volleyball.
58. All schools want her. She's very smart too.
59. She's been accepted at West Point already.
60. I'll probably stay in Michigan.
61. Shoot, a couple of those weren't about me.
62. I haven't even applied to a college yet.
63. I'm thinking about Central Michigan University.
64. Mostly because it's closer to Michigan Tech.
65. Which is where my boyfriend has applied.
66. He's also applied to University of Oklahoma, which is where a lot of his family is from.
67. My decision will probably be determinded by where he or Kristy (the best friend) goes.

69. I don't know what I want to major in either.
70. Most likely, I'll stay in-state because it's less expensive.
71. And then I will feel guilty because my grandmother expects more of me.

77. I only took food money, which was dumb because food is way more expensive up there.

81. I used to like to listen to my parents and their friends talk late at night, but I'd always get sent to bed.

83. Now, I guess I'm old enough to listen to them.

86. I don't intend to be mean, but my parents didn't go to college, and my friends' parents have.

88. My father owns a wrecker service.

90. My grandpa started it; he went to school for business.
91. My dad wasn't one for school.
92. My mom works at our hospital.
93. She answers phones and prints out charts. She's done it for about as long as I've been alive.
94. I'm very insecure.
95. A little about my body, but mostly about my intelligence and abilities.
96. I never think I'm good enough in school.

98. I hate that I'm lazy and procrastinate.

It won't stop raining. It's been cloudy for days. I'm still knitting, but I'm not knitting what I want to. Why is it that anytime I'm free, I don't feel like doing the math for my sweater, but as soon as I have things to do, I really want to work on it? And I wish I had a printer. It's fairly annoying to have to go to my grandparents' houses anytime I want something printed off, like charts, for example. I can't knit my colorwork mittens away from my desk right now because I have to sit in front of my computer to read the charts. I suppose I could copy them down by hand...But I don't have any graph paper and I really don't want to draw a ton of squares.

I've got to go volunteer at my local hospital.

Sweater Number Two

This is my second sweater in my nearly two years of knitting. I'm excited about this one because I'm knitting it with my handspun! It's a modified Buttony Sweater. I'm making it into a pullover, rather than a cardigan. I joined it into the round by taking the six stitches from each of the button bands and putting them on the needle one stitch from the left, one from the right, etc., until all twelve stitches were staggered. Then I just knit two together six times and then I finished working in the round. I'm to the point of putting the sleeve stitches onto holders and working the body. I want to do some waist shaping, but that will involve math. Wish me luck.

This is how I spend yesterday. I went over to my best friend's house and she helped me narrow down my search for school. I think I'm going to major in Business Management, or something like it. That has a good job outlook, doesn't it? There are a lot of things I would like to major in, like electrical or chemical engineering, but I don't know what kind of job I'd get after that. Hm. Decisions, decisions.

My second sock is almost finished! I'm quite happy. Ever since I got on Ravelry, I've been starting and finishing things like crazy. I've still got a couple of projects that haven't made it to Ravelry yet because I haven't gotten around to taking pictures yet.

In other news, I turn seventeen on the twenty-sixth! I don't exactly like being odd-number years old, but I guess I have to deal. =] And, I'm almost excited for my senior year of high school, but part of me is still really afraid of growing up.

Pattern: Purl Bee's Cashmere Lace Rib Cowl
Yarn: Handspun angora/lambswool blend, about dk weight. The gray part is fiber from my own Louie.
Needles: US 8 bamboo circular
Modifications: I only cast on 120 stitches instead of 180. I also went up two needles sizes and knitted it with a different yarn.

I think I'm going to like it once the Michigan Fall/ Winter shows up.

Agri-Environmental Wilderness Expedition (AEWE)

Alaska was so much fun. We flew from Detroit to Atlanta then up to Anchorage (Wednesday). Airplane food is crap, but we got to watch Wild Hogs, which was funny. Once we got up to Anchorage at 2 AM Michigan time, 10 PM Alaska time, we got vans and went to Centennial Park and stayed the night. Woke up the next morning (Friday) to go to the bathroom and a fox crossed my path. When we were tearing down camp, we saw a black bear hanging out around the campground. There was also a young moose. We drove for about three and a half hours to Seward and we set up camp at the Seward Military Base. They have nice showers and bathroom facilities. We went on an amazing dinner cruise through the Kenai Fjords (pronounced Keen-eye). We had some really good salmon on board. I would totally suggest going on the cruise. Then on Friday, we went to the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and saw a year old moose calf. We did something else, but I can't remember what. Then Saturday morning, the groups separated and found our trail heads. We hiked Crow Pass from the Girdwood side. The first three miles were all up. The whole trail was 27 miles of beautiful. There were a few spots where I didn't think I'd be able to go much farther but a couple of my leaders were awesome and helped me realized that, heck, I only get to do this once, might as well do it right and finish. So, I carried my pack the whole way this year, and it felt great. We spent two nights on the trail. We finished early and then hung around Anchorage for a day, went shopping, which sucked because I only brought food money. It was still fun hanging out with my group. Everyone got along so well. Everyone is freakin' hilarious too. One of my leaders is going to be my physics teacher next year. Can't wait. On the last day, when all anyone wanted to do was go home, we went on a tour of Elmendorf Airforce base. Oh, boy, was that exciting. "This is such and such building, the Airforce is awesome! This is yadda yadda plane. These are the benefits of the Airforce." The actual tour wasn't bad, but the lady just yelled the whole time. Then our flight out of Anchorage was delayed three hours, and everyone got split up between three different flights, but we all made it home safely. I think we're going to Colorado next year.

What does love feel like? Like, non-familial.

I've been in such a high state of elation that I can't stop saying it to everyone. I'm just so happy. I hope I can feel like this for a long time.

I've also noticed that everyone has been crocheting(!) granny squares. I have to admit, I've done it too, even though I don't like crochet that much. I would take a picture, but I'm pretty sure my lovely camera got accidentally thrown away. But, frankly, I don't care right now. I just don't.

I started Eunny's Entrelac socks from the most recent IK. I've only been working on them during TLC's show about giving kids cameras (can't remember the name) and Little People, Big World on Monday nights. It's pretty relaxing. Again, no picture because of the afore mentioned loss of camera.

Yeah, long absence, I know. I've been ill for the last few days. First it was a stuffy nose, then runny nose. Then my throat was sore. I was achy. My throat got worse. I've lost my voice. But all in all, I feel a whole heck of a lot better. Still not one hundred percent, but better.

In the Good News department, I've half way got a new Louet Victoria. I went to the Spinner's Flock meeting yesterday, and I convinced my mom to buy it for me. She didn't have her checkbook, so we're mailing a payment tomorrow. I have to pay for half, but I don't care. Especially because I'm getting it for almost one hundred dollars cheaper.

In the Bad News department, a very well known and very loved senior was killed in a car accident last Wednesday. Jeri Holt was on her way to school and the country roads were slippery. She was turning a corner at the same time as an empty school bus was going the opposite way. Her car somehow slid into the other lane and clipped the bus. She was pronounced dead on scene. One of the worst parts was that her mom happened upon the crash on her way to work and her dad is on the police force and he was a first responder to the accident.
Now, I didn't know Jeri very well, but she was in my math class and she was a very nice person every time I had the chance to talk to her.
I'm starting to think that something bad will continue to happen to people on the seventh day of every few months to people in my math class. A classmate's father died in a plane crash on December 7 last year.

I just want to let everyone know that I have not abandoned my blog, I've just had some more important things to deal with recently. And for the longest time, I couldn't knit. It was a horrible time.

Here it is. I'm going to wear it tomorrow and I might get pictures. It's pretty pink. Really, really pink. I would usually wear red.
This is the Seamless Hybrid from Knitting Without Tears by Elizabeth Zimmerman. I knitted it in Lyon Brand Lion Wool. It's because I'm cheap. I knitted hems in an lighter pink instead of ribbing on the bottom and the cuffs. I used a twisted rib for the collar.
We had a "snowday" today because of the windchill. I'm so happy. I don't care if I can't go outside, I just needed a break from school.

I finished this hat for my friend for a late Christmas present. I think she liked it. Simple hat pattern in bulky yarn. Easy-peasy.

My posting has become erratic and it's only the end of January. I guess I'm not up to this commitment. I'm not going to post everyday with little tid bits of info; if I'm going to post anything it will at least have some interest. Like today. We finally have snow here. Substantial snow that would probably give other districts at least a delay tomorrow, but we have a different person who decides snow days here and whoever it is doesn't like to be lenient. Oh, well.
These are pictures of Fletch playing in the snow. He loves it. I don't know what's up with him, but he always thinks that there are squirrels in any tree that he's free by. If he's on a leash, he's pretty calm. I have a video of him playing with a soccer ball. I might upload it to youtube or something and then I'll post it.
I've gotten almost no where with this walk one hundred miles thing. I guess I'm not very consistent with things that don't involve TV or browsing the Internet. *sigh* As a matter of fact, I think I've misplaced that paper...

This is a swatch of a shawl I'm working on. It's based on this pattern. I had to chart it out and I'm not knitting it in garter stitch. I'll probably add a different border, maybe Eunny's from the Print 'o the Wave stole. If you've noticed, this is the same yarn that I was using for PotW but I wanted something bigger, and I had made more mistakes than I was happy with.

There are 79 days until April 1. I have only walked 3.75 miles so far. It takes Fletch and me twenty minutes to walk a mile, or once around the "track". I still have 96.25 miles to go.Hopefully, I'll be able to walk, maybe run, faster and I can get two or more miles in per day.

I have been reading about this in the blog world, and I thought,"Hey. Why not? Fletch and I could use some excercize." I just got home from an almost thirty minute walk with Fletch. I'm thinking about joining the walk/run/whatever along, Run-a-go-go. I won't be running, at least not any time soon. I'm so out of shape. I need to be working on that anyway because of my up coming Alaska trip. Oh, did I forget to mention that? I'm going hiking in Alaska like I went to the Grand Tetons last summer. At least I won't have to buy boots again. I definately do not want to get sick like I did last time. I felt like I held the whole group back. I won't this year.

Look what I can do!...I mean, look what my mom did! She knitted this scarf over Christmas break (my Christmas break) and she just added the fringe this afternoon. Go Mom!Specs:
Yarn: Assorted colors of Cascade 220
Needles: US 10, straights
Finished size: 4 1/2 inches wide and 64 inches long, 72 with fringe.
Pattern: Cast on 20 stitches and work in garter stitch (all knit stitch) for twenty-four ridges and change color for 9 stripes. Bind off. Add fringe.

Fletch was a bit nervous with the scarf around his neck. He did pretty well staying still though.

Time to go read Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton. I hope it's good.

Happy New Year! My resolution? Blog at least once a week. I would have been doing that already, but I'm extremely lazy. I'm always online, but I just don't blog. Bad me.

My mom asked me to show her how to knit on Christmas day. This was started after a few fudged attempts. For about six inches on a swatch, she kept picking up stitches by spiltting the yarn.This picture is a rather bad one because it is dark out, and I'd say my mom has improved. The scarf is almost five feet long. I also have kind of sad news. My wheel has to go back next week. I've got some roving that I got for Christmas to finish up. No problem. And I leave you with a shot of Louie. I love his nose.

Snow? Tell it to come out now.

Why don't we have any snow? Probably something to do with global warming, blah, blah. I need the snow. If not for the Christmas music that's on the radio and the Christmas themed movies on tv, I'd have no idea it's only two days away from Christmas. I am really not in the mood. It doesn't help that our tree is a three foot tall fake tree that is on a table. So stupid.
