Leftovers...

Soaking as I type. This is my first finished knitted garment. Other than hats, socks, mittens, and scarves. I can't wait to block it! Wa-hoo!
I spent about an hour finishing up the armhole on Leftovers. All ends are woven in. Except for the neck ribbing. I worked the medium size the whole time, and when it came time for picking up the stitches around the neck, I had only picked up enough for the small size. Well, I thought that the stitches were nice and even, so I'll finish. WRONG! Turns out, I do need the extra six stitches to make it fit over my head once the collar had been sewn. I should have it done by tomorrow, in time to wear it to a play that my French class is going to go see in Indiana. A day off of school. Finally. Sometime, I'll post how fast my classes have been going and why it's so hard to get any knitting done.

Envious

I wish I could have gone to Rhinebeck...That's all I've been reading about for the past week and I'm sure that's all I'm going to hear about for a while...Poor me and everyone else who didn't get to go.
I cast off (casted off?) these the other day. They are for my size 7 feet, two at a time, magic- loop, toe- up with Trekking # 110, I think. I just did a 2x1 ribbing until I got up to where my calf roughly started and then increased into 2x2 ribbing. I'm pretty sure I'll be giving these to either my brother or sister for christmas...We all have the same sized feet at the moment.

Next weekend, I'll be teaching my grandma how to knit socks. She taught me how to knit and purl and I've learned the rest from everyone here on the internet. I'll probably get some decent pictures of the socks next weekend too.

I swear. Leftovers has been almost done for a couple weeks. I just have to do the ribbing around one armhole and then I have to sew the neck ribbing. But I might rip that out and add another six stitches to make it a bit stretchier. Then I have to weave in end. Maybe I can have a knit photo shoot next weekend. I hope so. And with real pictures...I hate my webcam.

Now I really need a wheel

This is my new, un-named French Angora rabbit. He's only 5 months old. My friend Bryan bought him for me. Bryan shows Tans and he went to a show and knew that I wanted an angora and here we are. I have BUNNY! Bunny needs a name. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Socktoberfest questions

  • When did you start making socks? Did you teach yourself or were you taught by a friend or relative? or in a class?
I made a pair of socks last fall, pretty soon after I took up knitting. I used a tutorial I found on the web. If I can find it, I'll post a link.
  • What was your first pair? How have they "held up" over time?
They're worsted weight acrylic, so all they've done is pill up a bit with plasic fuzzies.
  • What would you have done differently?
I would have knitted them with sock yarn.
  • What yarns have you particularly enjoyed?
Wildfoote from Brown Sheep.
  • Do you like to crochet your socks? or knit them on DPNs, 2 circulars, or using the Magic Loop method?
You can crochet socks? I like to knit on whatever I have the right sized needle of.
  • Which kind of heel do you prefer? (flap? or short-row?)
Depends on what I feel like.
  • How many pairs have you made?
I only have finished two pairs. One is very close to completion, but I got off the pattern somewhere in the foot and I've been too lazy to fix it. And I've knitted a pair of baby booties.

I'm really sorry it's been so long. I'd really like to post at least three times a week, but school. Ugh. Really busy.

I have a Swallowtail shawl from Interweave knits on the needles in some soft acrylic that I bought when I first knitted Kristy's socks from last...Febuary, or so.
I'm almost finished with Leftovers. I've yet to finish the ribbing for the collar and arm holes. Then I have to weave in a few ends. I'm almost done with some two socks on on circ. Toe up, Trekking XXL.
