How cool...

Me and the Harlot. Heck yes! She is a lot funnier in person....Even though I arrived just in time to be sent up stairs to watch on a large screen. I think it was better though, it was a lot cooler than down stairs. I still got my books signed. I'll post some pictures once my webcam decides to work again. Thank you, Katherine, for the photo. I have never, in my short knitting life, ever seen that many knitters. Partly because I live in a little town and I don't think there is a knitting club/guild/SnB anywhere near here. But it was great.

I love big cities. Heh...Ann Arbor? A big city? Not so much, but bigger than home. Any where that has a parking garage is a big city to us "country folk". My brother just got home from Chicago. He saw a Cirque du Soleil show (not sure which one, whichever was in Chicago).
I love Chicago. I was very jealous. Then I realized if I had gone, no Harlot. Even trade.

Knitters are great people.

Swap Pal

To Chrissy :
I hear that you've been trying to contact me by email. I'm not getting them and I check my junk e-mail daily. I think it would be best if you could just leave me a comment here on this blog. Thank you.

Nice surprise

You know what makes for a nice day? Remembering that The Harlot is going to be in-a-city-near-you. On Sunday! How cool. I am so going to Ann Arbor if my mom takes me.

Another nice thing? It's finding $10 in The secret life of a knitter from Febuary. Good day. Good, good day.

Birthday

My birthday is in one month. August 26. I will be able to drive, assuming that I pass the road test.

I've finishing up shopping for the swap. I just need to get things to package it all up. And if anyone reads this, who is sending me my package? My pal knows that I'm sending my package to her, but I don't know who's sending mine.

Good evening, all.

Oh my... what is this?

Holy crap! It's finished! Does this mean that I get to add a Finished Objects list to the side bar?

Pattern: Icarus, Interweave Knits, Summer '06
Yarn: KnitPicks' Gossamer in Sunrise

Needles: US 3, 14" metal straights.

They were my grandma's so not too many details

Modifications: I left out one repeat of the columns.

New Template

I didn't really like the burgundy. Which is strange because I usually like burgundy. I didn't really like the way the old template looked anyway. When I feel like it, I'm going to put all of the link schtuff back in the sidebar.I just hope I can rememer what I had there.

Tomorrow. I'm golfing then going shopping for the Birthday swap.

One of my very best friends lives on a farm. She has horses, cows, and a sheep. Yep. Just one sheep. And I get her wool. Oh. Yeah. I'm on a hunt for someone local (or a county over) to teach me how to spin with either a drop spindle or a wheel. They both would be nice to learn.

Thanks for stopping by.

Do you think I can do it?

Ugh...Blogger is being dumb....I'll update later.
*time for the real post*
It's going to be my first real sewing project. The pattern is 4265 from Simplicity. The fabric is just some cheap cotton from JoAnn's fabrics.
Basically, the only sewing that I've done is some very beginner quilting. With a tiny kids machine that only has one stitch option. After seeing more and more blogs with sewing on them I've just really wanted to sew. And I just hope I can do it.

Banner

I don't have a proper camera at the moment, nor a good editing program, and I tried to make a banner. It's not working. If anyone knows how to fix it, let me know. I can't get my banner up without having the title show through that is under the settings tab. I also can't get the banner tall enough to show all of Fletch. So for now, all you get to see is his feet. I'll either figure it out, or just take it down. We'll see.

And I've started the fun part of Icarus. You know, the bit after the yo columns. Hopefully, I can get a FO list started. Ha, like that's gonna happen.

Auf Wiedersehen! via Heidi Kulm. This summer season is going to be interesting.

Premier!

Woo! Tonight is the night. Project Runway. Yippie!!

Oh, and I've been sewing. Trying, really... More on that later.

Knitting; I've got about this far on my sister's secret blanket(and the wrong side, only posted because no one else has. I need to see the wrong side of knitted items):

PR

The third season of Project Runway starts Wednesday. I'm so happy. I love that show. I can't wait to see what sort of characters they have this season. I'm watching the first season reruns. You gotta love Austin. And Jay. Jay is the man.

Gotta go! I'm going camping for the next two days. Nothing like the last time. This campsite is only 8 miles from home this time.

Fireworks

Ok. I've been waiting patiently for some decent fireworks. But it keeps. Raining. Ugh. Neighbors were supposed to have a nice show, but we just got some tornado-y weather, so that didn't happen. Hopefully, tomorrow (technically, today) the Island people will have their show at the lake. They always have an awesome show.

Icarus is coming along nicely. I'm just about to start Chart 2. No progress on Marseilles because Icarus has been stealing my attention. In a few days, I should be able to go to Jonesville for yarn, which makes me happy. I need to figure out what to get for the ABS (August birthday yadda-yadda). I'm not going to be posting too many details about it here though. Surprises are nice. And just to say, I'm not quite sure about how I should go about contacting my pal and whatnot.

Alright. I'm tired. Time to go to sleep.

Swap Form

What day is your birthday?
August 26, 1990
Are you crafty?
I'm not very creative, but sometimes I like to bead and braid.
Would you enjoy things like: Buttons, ribbons and embellishments?
I'd like buttons, but only wooden ones. I like that 'old' look. I like buttons with either two or four holes, not the type with the hole in a nub on the back of the button. Sometimes bright plasic ones are okay. Ribbons, maybe, I like stripes. Veritcal or horizontal. No embellishments.
Do you dye your own wool?
I have once. With Kool-Aid. I think it's pretty cool.
Do you like to scrapbook or make homemade cards?
I have scrapbooked but I'm not very original. Handmade cards are a lot nicer to get than a scrapbook page.
What small project would you be interested in making? Socks, mittens, scarf, hat, baby items, wash cloths, doilies, shrugs, etc.
I love knitting socks, but I have a hard time finishing the second. I'd want to try two socks on two circs, but I don't have the right needles. Mittens, hats, baby items, and lacy things are fun too.
What are your favorite scents?
The lake. It reminds me of my grandparents. And gasoline and shop smell. That reminds me of my dad. Have fun with that.
Do you like stationary and cards?
Not really.
Do you like hand lotions or soaps?
Yes. Burt's Bees is nice and Gardiner's Handlotion is awesome.
Do you like to sew or embroider items?
I wish I could sew. I've seen the Week-ender bag and I'd like to sew that.
Do you like beads?
Glass beads. But if they're bigger than a dime, then they're too gaudy, unless they are really pretty.
What kind of mail-able snacks do you like to eat?
Chocolate, and tea is nice too.
Do you like to wear costume jewelry? Necklace, earrings, bracelets etc.
No. Some bracelets are okay.
Do you like to play cards or board games?
I play speed, B.S., solitare, and Spanish solitare.
What are your favorite colors of yarn?
I like naturals and browns and blues and greens and dark reds. Beachy colors.
Do you like solid, variegated, heathers, or self striping yarns?
Yes, but varigated and self-striping only for socks.
Do you like kitchen magnets or key rings?
Magnets, no. Key chains, only if they are from places. Like touristy places.
Do you like picture frames?
Not really.
Do you like to make/or use stitch markers?
I use them, but I've only 'made' them out of rubberbands from my sister's braces. (Not used, of course.)
Do you collect anything?
Coffee mugs. And I do have some stamps that my grandma gave me.
Do you have any allergies? Smoke, food, fiber, pets, etc..
Not that I know of. But I don't care for the smell of smoke.
Do you have any hobbies?
Knitting, reading, watching Grey's Anatomy, ER, SVU, and Gilmore Girls religiously. Too bad it's the tv off-season.
Do you like scented or unscented candles?
Scented are nice, but some make me sick.
Are you a fiber snob?
Well... yeah. I like wool and cotton and alpaca. I'd love to get my hands on some tweedy Rowan.
